What makes a strong pitch

Offer one clear question and a distinct angle, then explain what a reader will understand by the end. Specific subjects are stronger than broad surveys. Tell us which place, community, period or practice your proposal concerns, and note where experiences differ rather than implying one account speaks for everyone.

A grounded approach

We welcome explanatory features, comparisons, cultural background and reported essays with a careful scope. Pitches should show how factual claims can be checked and how any personal or community perspective will be represented accurately. We do not seek unsupported generalisations, promotional copy or advice that asks readers to follow rules that may vary by place.

What to send

Include a working title, a short summary, the proposed category and a few lines about your relevant perspective or approach. This is a proposal, not a guarantee of publication. Do not send confidential personal information or material you do not have permission to share.
